Petition to fund more research into Brain Tumours
Ampersand’s Maria Maguire QC is asking for support for this petition to raise the level of investment in brain tumour research. Maria’s brother, Frank Maguire, a highly respected solicitor–advocate, died from a brain tumour in September 2011. During his illness he advocated for more research into the causes of brain tumour and its treatment to help others. Unlike most cancers the incidence of brain cancer is rising. The prognosis is poor with less than 20% of those diagnosed surviving beyond 5 years. The petition needs 100,000 signatures for the issue to be debated in the UK Parliament.
