& lets talk about public law

CPD: 2 hours Cost: Free Venue: The Mackenzie Building, Faculty of Advocates, Old Assembly Close, High Street, Edinburgh, EH1 1QX

Ampersand Live is going live and in person. On Wednesday 2nd December 2026, we are bringing three of the most distinctive voices in Scottish public law to the stage at the Faculty of Advocates Mackenzie Building for a late afternoon of candid, in-conversation discussion streamed before a live audience for the Ampersand Live podcast series.

Three careers, three vantage points, three conversations:

Dorothy Bain KC, in conversation with Tony Convery – public law through the lens of practice, drawing on her experience as a former Lord Advocate, and on her work as counsel.

Joanna Cherry KC, in conversation with Ayla Iridag – the view from every side of a case: as petitioner, as counsel for a party, and from her time as a Member of Parliament.

Douglas Ross KC, in conversation with Chris Stephen – acting for the government, and what it takes to defend the decisions of the state.
